Occupational Therapy in Oatlands
A child who is overwhelmed cannot show you what they are actually capable of. Much of the early work here is simply lowering the volume — of the room, the pace and the expectations — until we are seeing your child rather than their stress response.
From there we build. You sit in on sessions, see what settles your child and what tips them over, and take that reading home with you. Parents often tell us the home strategies are the part they did not expect.
Our occupational therapists work with children on the everyday skills that build confidence at home, at school and out in the world, including:

We see children from infancy through to 16 years. If you have concerns about a baby or toddler, we encourage you to contact us early — early intervention makes a real difference to outcomes.
Oatlands is roughly 4.5km from our Northmead clinic — an estimated 9 to 11 minute drive via James Ruse Drive. Parking is free and on site, so there is no circling the block before a session.
Every child develops at their own pace, but if you’re noticing your child struggling with everyday tasks — getting dressed, holding a pencil, managing big emotions, sitting still at school, or coping with certain sounds or textures — an OT assessment can help identify what’s going on and what to do about it. You don’t need a diagnosis or a referral to get started. You’re not alone — we’re here to guide you every step of the way.
Our sessions are play-based, engaging, and tailored to your child’s goals. We use fun, evidence-based activities to build practical skills in a way that feels natural rather than clinical. Parents are always welcome to be involved — we believe therapy works best when it’s a team effort.
Absolutely. We celebrate the rich cultural and linguistic diversity of Western Sydney. Our therapists are trained in culturally responsive care and take the time to understand each family’s own context, values and routines when building a therapy plan.
Yes — we see a number of Oatlands children each week. Families from the area often come to us specifically for the quieter clinic environment and the outdoor sensory space, and you are welcome to look through the rooms before booking anything. Call us at 9037 1163 or visit us at 7/185 Briens Rd, Northmead NSW. We’ll listen to your concerns, answer your questions, and help you book an initial consultation. Early support can make a big difference—and we’re here to walk this journey with you.
No referral is needed. You can contact The Bridge Effect directly to book an OT assessment for your child. Some clients do come to us via a paediatrician or GP — and if you have an existing referral or report, please bring it along — but it is not a requirement.
Yes. We support NDIS self-managed and plan-managed participants. We are not currently a registered NDIS provider, so we’re unable to work with NDIA/agency-managed plans directly. If your child has an NDIS plan that includes funding for occupational therapy (typically under Capacity Building — Improved Daily Living), we can work within your plan.
