Occupational Therapy in Rydalmere
A note from school tells you something is off, but rarely why. Weak shoulder and core stability, an immature pencil grasp, visual-motor difficulty and plain lost confidence all look like messy handwriting from the outside, and each one calls for a different response.
So we assess before we advise. Once we know which of those is at play we will say so in plain words, show you what to practise at home, and — with your permission — put it in writing for the classroom in language a teacher can actually use.
Handwriting is usually one piece of a bigger picture. Our occupational therapists also work with children on:

We see children from infancy through to 16 years. If you have concerns about a baby or toddler, we encourage you to contact us early — early intervention makes a real difference to outcomes.
Rydalmere is about 5.1km from our Northmead clinic — an estimated 10 to 13 minutes by car via Victoria Road and James Ruse Drive. Free parking is available on arrival.
Every child develops at their own pace, but if you’re noticing your child struggling with everyday tasks — getting dressed, holding a pencil, managing big emotions, sitting still at school, or coping with certain sounds or textures — an OT assessment can help identify what’s going on and what to do about it. You don’t need a diagnosis or a referral to get started. You’re not alone — we’re here to guide you every step of the way.
Our sessions are play-based, engaging, and tailored to your child’s goals. We use fun, evidence-based activities to build practical skills in a way that feels natural rather than clinical. Parents are always welcome to be involved — we believe therapy works best when it’s a team effort.
Absolutely. We celebrate the rich cultural and linguistic diversity of Western Sydney. Our therapists are trained in culturally responsive care and take the time to understand each family’s own context, values and routines when building a therapy plan.
Yes — Rydalmere families make up a steady part of our caseload, and handwriting and fine motor referrals are among the most common reasons they come to us. If a teacher or preschool has raised a concern, bring what they have given you to the first appointment. Call us at 9037 1163 or visit us at 7/185 Briens Rd, Northmead NSW. We’ll listen to your concerns, answer your questions, and help you book an initial consultation. Early support can make a big difference—and we’re here to walk this journey with you.
No referral is needed. You can contact The Bridge Effect directly to book an OT assessment for your child. Some clients do come to us via a paediatrician or GP — and if you have an existing referral or report, please bring it along — but it is not a requirement.
Yes. We support NDIS self-managed and plan-managed participants. We are not currently a registered NDIS provider, so we’re unable to work with NDIA/agency-managed plans directly. If your child has an NDIS plan that includes funding for occupational therapy (typically under Capacity Building — Improved Daily Living), we can work within your plan.
