Occupational Therapy in Newington
Newington sits a bit further from Northmead than most of the suburbs we serve, but the drive is still a familiar part of the week for the families who make it.
Every in-clinic session follows the same evidence-based approach, with clear guidance on what to try at home between visits — you’ll always know what’s happening and why.
Our experienced occupational therapists work with children across a wide range of everyday-skills and development needs, including:

We see children from infancy through to 16 years. If you have concerns about a baby or toddler, we encourage you to contact us early — early intervention makes a real difference to outcomes.
Our Northmead clinic is approximately 22–27 minutes from Newington by car via Silverwater Road and James Ruse Drive. Free on-site parking is available when you visit.
Every child develops at their own pace, but if you’re noticing your child struggling with everyday tasks — getting dressed, holding a pencil, managing big emotions, sitting still at school, or coping with certain sounds or textures — an OT assessment can help identify what’s going on and what to do about it. You don’t need a diagnosis or a referral to get started. You’re not alone — we’re here to guide you every step of the way.
Our sessions are play-based, engaging, and tailored to your child’s goals. We use fun, evidence-based activities to build practical skills in a way that feels natural rather than clinical. Parents are always welcome to be involved — we believe therapy works best when it’s a team effort.
Absolutely. We celebrate the rich cultural and linguistic diversity of Western Sydney. Our therapists are trained in culturally responsive care and take the time to understand each family’s own context, values and routines when building a therapy plan.
Yes — Newington is a little further from our clinic, but it’s a straightforward drive, and many of our families travel from in and around Newington for weekly, face-to-face sessions. We’ll listen to your concerns, answer yourquestions, and help you book an initial consultation. Early support can make a big difference—and we’re here to walk this journey with you.
No referral is needed. You can contact The Bridge Effect directly to book an OT assessment for your child. Some clients do come to us via a paediatrician or GP — and if you have an existing referral or report, please bring it along — but it is not a requirement.
Yes. We support NDIS self-managed and plan-managed participants. We are not currently a registered NDIS provider, so we’re unable to work with NDIA/agency-managed plans directly. If your child has an NDIS plan that includes funding for occupational therapy (typically under Capacity Building — Improved Daily Living), we can work within your plan.
