Occupational Therapy in Westmead
Families coming to us from the Westmead precinct are often already juggling several appointments across several teams. What they ask us for, more than anything, is someone who joins the dots rather than adding another report to the folder.
So our occupational therapists work alongside whoever else is involved in your child’s care, explain what they are seeing in plain language, and send you home each week with something practical to try. You will always know why we are doing what we are doing.
Our experienced occupational therapists work with children across a wide range of everyday-skills and development needs, including:

We see children from infancy through to 16 years. If you have concerns about a baby or toddler, we encourage you to contact us early — early intervention makes a real difference to outcomes.
Our Northmead clinic is about 5 minutes from the Westmead health precinct by car via Hawkesbury Road, and walkable from parts of Westmead. Free parking is available on arrival.
Every child develops at their own pace, but if you’re noticing your child struggling with everyday tasks — getting dressed, holding a pencil, managing big emotions, sitting still at school, or coping with certain sounds or textures — an OT assessment can help identify what’s going on and what to do about it. You don’t need a diagnosis or a referral to get started. You’re not alone — we’re here to guide you every step of the way.
Our sessions are play-based, engaging, and tailored to your child’s goals. We use fun, evidence-based activities to build practical skills in a way that feels natural rather than clinical. Parents are always welcome to be involved — we believe therapy works best when it’s a team effort.
Absolutely. We celebrate the rich cultural and linguistic diversity of Western Sydney. Our therapists are trained in culturally responsive care and take the time to understand each family’s own context, values and routines when building a therapy plan.
Yes. Westmead is one of our closest catchment areas, and we regularly work with children whose families are also engaged with the Westmead health precinct. Bring any existing reports along and we’ll help you find an appointment time that works. Call us at 9037 1163 or visit us at 7/185 Briens Rd, Northmead NSW. We’ll listen to your concerns, answer your questions, and help you book an initial consultation. Early support can make a big difference—and we’re here to walk this journey with you.
No referral is needed. You can contact The Bridge Effect directly to book an OT assessment for your child. Some clients do come to us via a paediatrician or GP — and if you have an existing referral or report, please bring it along — but it is not a requirement.
Yes. We support NDIS self-managed and plan-managed participants. We are not currently a registered NDIS provider, so we’re unable to work with NDIA/agency-managed plans directly. If your child has an NDIS plan that includes funding for occupational therapy (typically under Capacity Building — Improved Daily Living), we can work within your plan.
We see families from across Western Sydney and the Hills District, not just Westmead. To find out more, check the
